Minimizes formation damage. Reacts with shale to prevent or stop sloughing and swelling. Significantly increases lubricity; either alone or synergistically with base oils. Inhibits dispersion of drilled solids. Minimal and easily distinguishable fluorescence. Will not leave oil slick o sheen on water at offshore locations. No emulsifiers needed to ensure proper mixing.
Product Function
It is a versatile, total mud conditioner that stabilizes shale formations, significantly increases lubricity, and lowers HTHP water loss. SOLTEX E enhances filter cake properties in both oil based and water-based muds.
Recommended treatment
SOLTEX E is normally added in concentrations of 3–6 lb/bbl (8.5–17.2 kg/m3) to stabilize troublesome shales. Conventional hopper when chlorides do not exceed 60,000 ppm. When adding to high salinity systems, premixing SOLTEX E with fresh water by adding through chemical barrel will give best results. If mixing system requires, a defoamer may be added to prevent surface foam. SOLTEX E will be depleted by drilled solids and the wellbore face, then it is advisable to add 50% more product one day following the initial treatment to ensure adequate concentration.
