Feature And Benefits
SODA ASH is highly soluble and effective means of treating out soluble calcium as derived from make up water, cement and anhydrite in water base drilling.
Product Function
Calcium contamination may cause undesirable increases in rheology, gel strengths, and filtration problems, as well as inhibit the viscosity and gel properties of dry bentonite when added to water. The concentration of soluble calcium will determine the amount of Soda Ash required to treat the water or drilling fluid.
Recommended treatment
To treat calcium out of make up water, multiply the total hardness of the water (mg/liter) by 0.0009 to find the lb/bbl or by 0.00257 to find the kgs/m3 of Soda Ash to add. Do not use Soda Ash to treat massive cement contamination, as an increase in pH will occur. Over treatment with Soda Ash can result in carbonate contamination of the drilling fluid. Do not mix Soda Ash and caustic soda at the same time.
Shipping References
Transportation of SODA ASH is not restricted by any regulatory agency.
