PHPA™ L functions as an inhibitor by coating or encapsulating formations and cuttings. PHPA™ L restricts the interaction of water with hydra table and dispersible shales. PHPA™ L minimizes the occurrence of tight hole and washouts as well as preventing bit and stabilizer balling. PHPA™ L can be used as a flocculant in clear water drilling PHPA™ L provides lubricity in low pressure conditions. PHPA™ L is stable in monovalent salt such as NaCl, KCl etc.

PHPA™ L copolymer emulsion is used to stabilize reactive clay and shale formations. PHPA™ L provides high degree of clay and shale inhibition in conjunction with sodium and potassium chloride in fresh water and sea water muds.

A concentration of 1–4 lbs/bbl (2.8–11.4 kgs/m³) is added to the mud system as required. An excess should always be available to react with wellbore and the cuttings generated. The actual amount added will depend upon the solids content of the drilling fluid and the reactivity of the formations to be drilled.

Transportation of PHPA™ L is not restricted by any regulatory agency.

Utilize normal precautions for employee protection when handling chemical products. Utilize appropriate respirator, gloves, goggles and apron. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product prior to use.

PHPA™ L is packaged in HDPE pail containing 25 kgs net weight.
