Feature And Benefits
PETROGUARD protects water sensitive shales and clays by decreasing the shale’s tendency to absorb water, swell and slough-off. It improves borehole stability and helps promote gauge hole. As additional benefits, fluid loss and bit balling are often reduced when using this product. Due to its low molecular weight, PETROGUARD will have little, if any, effect on the rheology of a drilling fluid, i.e. viscosity, while still affording excellent shale inhibition.
Product Function
PETROGUARD functions primarily as a shale inhibitor or encapsulator. PETROGUARD can also be used as a clay stabilizer in workover and completion fluids, fracturing fluids and acidizing treatments.
Recommended treatment
A typical dosage rate is 1.0 – 2.0 ppb as supplied. However, dosage rates of up to 3.0 – 5.0 ppb may be required depending upon the reactivity of the shale and the amount of shale to be drilled.
Shipping References
Transportation of PETROGUARD is not restricted by any regulatory agency.
