IRON–WATE

IRON–WATE™is high - purity ground refined mineral Hematite/ Iron Oxide (Fe2 O3). It has a minimum density of 5.0 making it a superior alternative to BARITE for adjusting and maintaining density in all types of drilling fluids.

Feature And Benefits
IRON–WATE™ has a density 20% greater than BARITE, which means less usage of weight material and fewer solids for a given density. IRON–WATE™ provides improved rheological properties and the plastic viscosities are 2 – 30% less than the Barite muds. IRON–WATE™ is acid soluble (>95%). IRON–WATE™, due to its lower solids concentration, results in improved penetration rates and decreases in overall drilling fluid cost. IRON–WATE™ will partially scavenge H2S at neutral and low ph levels and may be regarded as a secondary sulfide scavenger. When IRON WATE™ is used in H2S areas a high pH should always be maintained.
Product Function
IRON–WATE™is applicable to all drilling fluids for the purpose of increasing and/or maintaining required density. It is excellent for 'kill' fluids having a maximum achievable density of 26 lbs/gal (3121 kgs/m3).
Recommended treatment
The amount of IRON–WATE™ needed to increase drilling fluid density is calculated as follows: LBS/ BBL : 1750 (W2– W1) lbs/(41.66 -W2) Where: W1 = Initial specific gravity W2= Specific gravity required
Shipping References
Transportation of IRON–WATE™ is not restricted by any regulatory agency.
Handling Recommendations
Utilize normal precautions for employee protection when handling chemical products. Utilize appropriate respirator, gloves, goggles and apron. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product prior to use.
Standard Packing
IRON–WATE™ is packaged in 25 kg, 50 kgs, and 100 lbs (45.4 kgs) multiwall paper sacks. It is also available in bulk form in 1 or 1.5 metric ton jumbo bags.
