CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS is utilized to provide an alkaline pH range in water base drilling fluids. CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS is utilized to ensure maximum solubility of FCL and C–LIG. Maintenance of a high pH range with CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS will minimize corrosion rates and reduce the solubility of calcium and magnesium ions.

CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS should be added slowly to water in a chemical barrel prior to adding to drilling fluid system. CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS should be handled with EXTREME CAUTION. CAUSTIC SODA PRILLS reacts violently with water and gives off tremendous heat for this reason; it should be added to water very slowly with sufficient agitation to prevent violent boiling or spurting.

Regulatory agencies classify CAUSTIC SODA as a corrosive material (UN 1823) for transportation.

Utilize normal precautions for employee protection when handling chemical products. Utilize appropriate respirator, gloves, goggles and apron. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product prior to use.
